Vintage suitcase makeover

I've got a proposal recently from a writer, who is struggling with storing her printouts and all tools she needs for writing. Another problem is setting up a proper home office to function as a writer's corner and yet be neat, practical and hideable! But we all know that inspiration comes in different times in different places....we made up our mind and decided that a portable "office" would be a great choice and might be the solution we are actually looking for. We agreed that some kind of case or bag would help to solve the problem.
Few days later she came across with this second hand vintage suitcase and fell in love with that! :)

Apparently the interior definitely needed some help...and some kind of changes outside were essential too so there came my job :)

I started the project with cleaning the outer surface and sanding the metal parts. After that process I've painted all of them with silver acrylic paint.

For the interior I was looking for a great fabric to replace the old one and insert a new, strong fabric instead. I found a very plain linen fabric, which was so easy to work with!
My other idea was to insert a magnetic board to the inside of the top with some cute button magnets, as she mentioned earlier, that she likes to create mood boards during the writing process and make some quick notes. I thought this magnetic board was exactly what she needed! :) But the big question was, where would I get a magnetic board which had a shape like this??

Creative thinking!!! :) I've got a strong foam board, cut the shape out and painted with magnetic primer. Than I gave another coat to it with acrylic paint, created the button magnets and tada! :) Here is the result!

This is how this project turned out! What do you think? I hope you like it! :)

Thanks for reading! xx
